Tell The Bees
Tell The Bees
(Words and music by and © Talis Kimberley, 2009)
My golden Queen holds court within.
Her windows they are many;
Her castle is a treasure house
And all her wealth is honey.
Her kingdom stretches far and wide
Though she keeps to her chambers
Her knights ride daily out on quest
And vie to win her favours.
Through famine, plague and peril, all
And fields bereft of flowers
No nectar for my Queen this day;
All empty stand her bowers.
Tell the bees when you have news from home
Tell the bees when you are grieving
And perhaps the bees will make reply
And say why they are leaving…
My golden Queen held court within;
Her windows they stand empty
Her castle was a treasure house,
In remembered days of plenty.
