Mon Seul Desir

(Words and music by and © Talis Kimberley, 1992)

My lady sits in her fair bower
Velvet drapes to keep her warm
Carpeted with Thousandflower
Nothing shall do my lady harm

Mythical beasts come guard her sleeping
The lion and the unicorn
Their trust and mine is her safekeeping
But I wish I had a spiral horn

Tu es mon seul desir…
Tu es mon seul desir…

My duty bids me guard my lady
Honour forbids that I should fail
But I could so well fulfill that duty
With a spiral horn, cloven hooves and a flowing tail

Tu es mon seul desir
Tu es mon seul desir
Help me to shed this human form
Tu es mon seul desir

My lady’s vigil ends come morning
The beasts will see us safely home
But I dare not give my lady warning
That I’m come back here on my own

I’ll sleep as well on Thousandflower
As does my lady on her soft bed
Gladly forsake her gilded bower
For the spiral horn draws me instead –

Tu es mon seul desir
Tu es mon seul desir
Help me to shed this human form
Tu es mon seul desir

Tu es mon seul desir
Tu es mon seul desir
I wish I had a spiral horn
Tu es mon seul desir…
