A Harp Strung With Wind

(Words and music by and © Talis Kimberley, 1992)

A harp strung with wind – a harp strung with light
A season of frost – a season of light
The Midwinter sun illumines the land
The wind-harp is dumb awaiting some hand

A harp strung with wind – a harp strung with light
A season of frost – a season of light
This bare frozen earth where old giants trod
Shakes now at the steps of who knows, who knows what god?

A harp strung with wind – a harp strung with light
A season of frost – a season of light
These unquiet bones lie witness to war
Till claimed by the foam they are dragged from the shore
And the harpist shall come by his own tortured choice
As he plays on the wind shall the harp find a voice…
